Rechabites never drank.                        Jer 35:5,6

Pastor has chosen for himself a modified Rechabite vow, rejecting alcohol but not grapes!  I stand on these verses where biblical commandment is not involved:  1Cr 6:12 All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.  1Cr 10:23 All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.  Personal observation and family experience has fostered in me a hatred of alcoholic beverages.  Some things that are permitted do not make me better.

No excuses!  Is your conscience clear before God?

John Chapter Two

The Wedding in Cana, verses 1-12.

What is revealed here of Jesus’ character, motives, and ability?  What can you commit into His keeping because of that?

John 2:3, 4.   And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine.  Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.

Why would Mary seek wine from Jesus?

Luke 1:31-33._ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Why did Jesus call Mary, “woman”?

Why not “mother”? Respectful relationship change!_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

What “hour” was Jesus speaking of?

Mat 26:45, Mar 14:35, John 17:1._ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

John 2:5.        His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do [it].            Why did Mary put Jesus in charge? _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

John 2:6            And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.

                Why so much?  Ephesians 3:20_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

John 2:7-8.       Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.  And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare [it].

            A process is revealed!  Jesus commands.  People obey with zeal. The miracle occurs.  Why is that important? _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Jesus was invited to this wedding.  Have you invited Him into your daily life?  A “real world” problem came up and Jesus was asked to supply the need.  Have you asked Jesus?  Jesus gave commands that were obeyed.  Have you obeyed Jesus?  1Peter 5:7   Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.  What can you commit into Jesus keeping today?
