FLASHLIGHT  Practical, portable light sources have been sought throughout history.  The beam of light emitted by the common household flashlight illuminates a very small area, and is not expected to reveal an entire room.  Similarly, this theme is not intended to explore a complete understanding of any subject.  Here you may find very brief, but insightful, "bumper sticker" phrases!  I hope some of them do provoke deeper thoughts.

FLASHLIGHT on Doubt

Doubt your beliefs enough to dig for faith's foundation.
Never believe your doubts without searching for doubt's cause!

FLASHLIGHT on Love's Test

The greatest test of love is "un".  To love the unloving, the unlovable, the unforgiving, and the unforgivable proves love's genuineness.

FLASHLIGHT on Wisdom

...and you gain wisdom, not from observation (because no one can observe everything) but from the One Person who designed and knows everything.

FLASHLIGHT on Election.

In the Bible the relation of the human and Divine wills is inscrutable; the reality of both is assured.

FLASHLIGHT on Rest.

Consider God’s purpose in bringing Israel through the wilderness, through hunger and thirst, through conflict and hardship.  God proved His faithfulness and ability to guide them, provide for them, and protect them.  All they had to do was learn to trust Him, completely trust Him.  What if the rest God has promised to us is not an elite spiritual condition, but simply having total confidence and trust and eager obedience.

FLASHLIGHT on Dedication.

A person can give their best efforts to God without giving themselves to God!

FLASHLIGHT on Spouse.

It is specifically interesting that God did not make more men to help Adam.  Instead, He made just one woman to be Adam’s most suitable helper.

FLASHLIGHT on Salvation.

In some mysterious way, God gave a part of Himself (Breath = Spirit) at Adam’s creation much like Adam’s rib went towards the creation of Eve.  Uniting with Eve actually reunited Adam with his rib.  Uniting with the Lord Jesus Christ through salvation is a spiritual reunion with God!

1Cr 6:17   But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.

FLASHLIGHT on Cohabitation
People who live together without being married have begun their lives together in some form of self-gratification.  It will be much more difficult for them to guard against selfishness because they began by testing their compatibility rather than being committed to becoming compatible.

FLASHLIGHT on Trust

submitted by Josh Taylor

Tests are not for God to see how much we trust Him, but for Him to show us why and how we can trust him.
